Meet the Management Team at Johnsons Coach Travel.

John Johnson

Commercial Director

Helping out from an early age, John has us in stitches with stories of hours spent filling up coaches with the old hand fuel pump and how he became a dab hand at furniture removals. Joining the managerial team in 1978, he's spent over 35 years at the helm with his brother, Peter.
Nowadays, John is the company's Commercial Director, the head honcho of marketing and sales; he loves looking after our customers and always works with a 'big grin guarantee'! Outside of work, John's transport preference is for 2 wheels; he bikes to work, he helps develop young bike racers at Stratford Cycle Club  and can often be seen peddling off on mountainous adventures with his wife, Anne.

Peter Johnson

Operations Director

Mechanic by trade, paper boy by nature, Peter began his professional life as a HGV mechanic. After growing up in the family business, it was an easy transition from HGVs back to coaches and buses, where he joined John on the managerial team in 1979.

Peter oversees all aspects of operations at Johnsons, ensuring the highest levels of fleet safety, presentation and punctuality, amongst many other things. When he's not working, he enjoys nothing more than crafting recycled wood into benches, toy boxes and chicken hutches, and helping out on his wife, Kate's farm.

Joan Johnson

Director / Company Secretary

Mother of John and Peter, Joan has been involved in the business for 60 years or more and was one of the very few female coach drivers in the 1970s. Joan is still the heart and soul of Johnsons and although officially retired Joan still gets involved in Brochure Launches and other customer events. Joan worked as a courier, a role she enjoyed for 35 years. There are not many places that Joan hasn’t seen on her travels and one of her personal favourites was the Isles of Scilly.

Richard Johnson

Service Delivery Manager

Fourth generation Richard Johnson, carefully balances the operational needs of the scheduling, engineering, and driving teams.
He joined the company as a cleaner and then went on to learn how to drive a coach and bus. Before long he was on the Coach Tours team and gaining experience on the road. In 2014 he moved to the workshop for a short period before joining our sister company, Whittles Coaches over in Kidderminster for 2 years. He's also played a role in Business Development for our Coach Hire department, bringing in new business and maintaining relationships with our loyal existing customers as well being the Performance Manager. where he strove to drive up engagement and best practises within the operational teams.

Sarah Day

Marketing Manager

Fourth generation Sarah Day, nee Johnson, heads up the Marketing Department.
Now into her 8th year she's now in charge of making the phone ring and making sure all our products and services are communicated correctly. Sarah is responsible for bringing fresh ideas along with the drive and determination to help move the business forward within our key market areas.
Sarah began her career at Johnsons in late 2011 in the reservations team making holiday and day trip reservations. She then gained some operational experience during the 2012 Olympics before becoming involved in the marketing department . In 2015 Sarah became the Projct Manager for two years where she helped develop the website and brought in mobile phones for the drivers.

Nicole Smith

PA to the Directors

Nicole is the go to person and is involved in all aspects of the company. 
Recently joining the company in January 2018, Nicole undertakes a variety of administrative, clerical and managerial tasks on behalf of the directors, arranging their diaries and acting as first point of call for any queries.

Tony Wallace

Compliance Manager

One of our longest serving members of staff Tony is the compliance manager using his experience and knowledge to make sure we operate legally and safely. He also ensures the driving teams deliver the service our customers expect. Tony was also the creator and presenter of the driver training schemes that have set a precedent in the coach industry.

Simon Smith

Quality Manager

Our behind the scenes man, pulling the strings to make sure that drivers, vehicles and site are ship-shape and squeaky clean. Simon manages a team of 14 cleaners that work hard throughout the night to ensure our vehicles are all fuelled and prepared for the next day.

Bryn Penney

Engineering Manager

The king of the mechanics who keep all of the fleet fit, healthy and ready to do nothing less than a top notch job!

Gary Harridence

Coach Hire Team Manager

Gary has a long involvement in the coaching industry and has been with Johnsons since 1997. He has a wealth of knowledge of the UK and Europe developed via many years of tour work. He has enthusiasm for travel, history, architecture and the arts which made a career at Johnsons ideal. He has a real passion for the company and strives really hard to make sure every one of our customers is totally satisfied and has all their expectations surpassed.

Barry Cobb

Own Products Manager

Barry and his team create the Johnsons brochures and works hard to discover new itineraries to delight our customers with year after year. Barry joined us from Bowens and has over 35 years of experience in creating holidays and is well known in the coach holiday industry. We are delighted to have Barry on Board!

Wendy Moore

Agency Sales & Loyalty Club Manager

Known in the travel industry for many years, Wendy now lends her experience to Johnsons, looking after our travel agencies and constantly looking out for new business opportunities. She heads up our Loyalty Club too and there probably isn't a job in Johnsons that she wouldn't try her hand at!

Jo Brown

Group Tours Manager

Jo is one of our longest standing members and has worked in the travel industry since the age of 17. Jo works in the dedicated Group Tours section of Johnsons and can tailor make complete packages together for incoming tours, day excursions as well as UK and Continenetal tours.

Kyran Flynn

Reservations Manager

Kyran and his reservations team offer knowledgeable information of holidays, day excursions and trips. He joined in August 2017 and has his sights on developing a friendly and customer focused department, where answering the phone and greeting customers face to face is his top priority. He is a vibrant and bubbly person who is always looking to answer peoples questions and enquiries.
