Johnsons walk on Fire for Charity of the Year!

Date Added 19/02/2016

£3,000 rasied in total for chosen charity of the Year!

We have raised a grand total £3,183 for our chosen charity, The Shakespeare Hospice over the course of 2015 and are continuing to support the Hospice throughout 2016, taking part in various fundraising events.

Through generous donations from staff, customers and general public, we have raised over £3,000 in 2015 by getting involved with Jolly Jumper Day; raffling off a large teddy bear which we aptly named Bova (after our coaches); organised a ‘Race the bus’ day which saw a handful of our employees race the new X20 Bard’s Bus from its starting point in Birmingham to the finish line in Stratford; and we have also been handing out masks of William Shakespeare to the public to encourage them to be “The Bard On Board”, which in itself has brought in many donations and this campaign continues into 2016 with Shakespeare’s 400th anniversary close by.

In 2016 fundraising plans were kicked off with Simon Smith (our Quality Maanger) and Richard Johnson (the Directors son and Operations Manager of Whittles Coaches)  partaking in The Shakespeare Hospice’s Firewalk Event on Friday 19th February. Simon and Richards journey also include a mission to achieve a Guinness World Record in this year’s London Marathon under the classification of ‘Fastest Marathon in a Two Person Costume’; and zip wiring through the mountains of Snowdonia – all in a bid to raise awareness of the hospice and raise much needed funds.

John Johnson, Commercial Director of Johnsons commented: “We are always honoured to help the hospice as they are such a worthy cause. We love new challenges and are really excited to be one of their corporate fundraisers again in 2016”.
