Summer 2019 Brochures OUT NOW!

Date Added 06/02/2019

Nicola Evans, from our Products Team, has spent the year analysing your feedback, visiting new attractions and preparing our fantastic programme of excursions with something to suit everyone. Here are Nicola’s thoughts on what to look out for in the new Summer 2019 Day Excursions Brochure.

“Following our very successful Brochure Launch in October at the National Memorial Arboretum, many of you wanted to know when we were going back so we’ll be heading there in June for Armed Forces Day- a celebratory affair where you can show your support, wander around the trees and visit the memorials at your leisure.

Back by popular demand, and requested by many of our passengers, is the Coronation Street Tour which takes place in both May and October. This is your chance to join us as we transport you to the streets of Weatherfield, to go on the included guided tour, listen to the stories and learn all about the filing secrets of the longest running soap opera on TV!

Why not come along with us, this summer, and treat yourself to a piece of Dartington Crystal! Join the guided tour to discover the history of the industry and watch the glass blowers in action. Afterwards, you are free to window shop or choose from the selection in the largest glass shop in the UK!

After cutting out the chocolates and goodies in January and February, I am personally looking forward to the Hotel Chocolat Tasting Adventure in September. (It’ll be worth the wait!) At the School of Chocolate, the tasting adventure includes sampling 15 different chocolates, an interactive taste test, teachings of cocoa plus enjoy a hot chocolate or glass of Prosecco to finish! You’ll also receive a luxury goodie bag to take away! What more could you want with this indulgent day out!?

For fans of Strictly Come Dancing, new for this year, we have added a Strictly Tea Dance. You’ll be invited to sit back and enjoy the entertainment however if you wish to join in, you can! Hosted by a comic impressionist, with professional ballroom dancing and afternoon tea, join us for a gentle afternoon’s entertainment.
For those of you that enjoy a glass of wine, like myself, new for 2019, is the Connoisseur Wine Tasting Experience. Whilst tasting various whites, reds and champagnes, you’ll be guided how to use your nose to pick up the different aromas, shown how to taste like a professional and learn about the different wine producing methods. Enjoy putting your dinner party menu together and, more importantly, learn what wine goes better with the food. See you there?

If you’re looking for a Summer day out, then I believe Shrewsbury Food Festival & Cruise has something for everyone. With time given at the Food Festival to see top chefs performing, sample the best in artisan produce, and enjoy some live music whilst wandering amongst the stalls before a relaxing 45 minute cruise around the Severn loop where you can sit and watch the world go by.

A must for many of our Johnsons customers in Winter, is our visit to the Thursford Christmas Spectacular. Well this Summer, you can go “Behind The Scenes at Thursford!”
Walk through the cast dressing rooms, see the huge array of costumes and flamboyant head dresses worn on stage. Head into the wardrobe department, see backstage, listen to the stories and secrets plus much more during the guided tour.

For all you bookworms, and one close to my heart as an avid reader, is our Literary Tour of Oxford. Accompanied by an official Blue Badge Guide on the coach, you’ll follow the trail of famous writers in and around Oxford. Be taken around locations associated with CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien, Lewis Carroll and many more.

Lastly, for a scenic visit with stunning views, may I recommend my home country;
The Mountains & Coast of Mid Wales. Let the driver do all the hard work while you sit back and enjoy the scenery. Heading via the base of Snowdonia National Park, our main stop is in the seaside resort of Barmouth. A day to enjoy some warm Welsh hospitality.”
