Johnsons take part in Wheelchair Challenge

A team of six Johnsons employees took part in a Workplace Challenge with a difference on Tuesday 12th July 2016.

Simon Bridges, Gregory Rose, Nik Glover, Andy Leyland, Charles Tavener and Christian Taylor headed to Worcester University Arena to take part in a Wheelchair Basketball competition against 10 other companies.

Team Captain Simon Bridges commented: "We took part in the championship last year and won, so we had our title to defend."

The team played four group games before progressing through to the semi final and then the final. They were winning throughout the final game...until the last 20 seconds where the competitng team from One Creative Ltd scored and Johnsons lost the game.

Simon Bridges commented: "It was such a challenging experience being in the wheelchair! All of our arms ached but we pulled together as a team and worked well."

The Workplace Challenge is a national programme from the County Sports Partnership Network funded by Sport England which aims to engage workplaces in Sport and Phyical activity.
