Johnsons Win 2 National Awards

Date Added 16/03/2016

We are delighted to come away with 2 awards at the National Coach Tourism Awards on Wednesday 16th March 2016 - for Day Excursion Programme of the Year and Coach Innovation Award.

Celebrating its 11th anniversary this year, the annual awards were hosted by Coach Monthly magazine and this year's celebrity presenter was TV personality Anthea Turner.

The event brought together over 400 industry professionals, including coach tour operators, destinations, visitor attractions, hotels, and tourism industry suppliers, to recognise and celebrate excellence and innovation across the coach tourism sector.

Johnsons were shortlisted for their Day Excursion programme and faced tough competition from other leading coach operators across the UK. The judges were impressed with the research that goes into the Johnsons programme and the many ways we add value to our excursions by including two attractions in one trip, and adding something a little extra such as a cream tea or guided tour.

Johnsons also won the award for Coach Innovation for our Bard on Board campaign. The campaign involves asking our customers to take photos of themselves wearing masks of William Shakespeare's face on our coaches or in locations we take them and also incorporates us renaming our fleet of coaches and buses after characters in Shakespeare plays. The concept was conceived after a discussion of how we can raise money for charity, tie in with the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death in 2016 and raise awareness of Johnsons in the local and trade press.

We faced competition in this category from other coach operators, attractions, and tourist boards - many with a significantly larger marketing budget! So we are delighted to have won this award.

Thank you to all our customers for supporting Johnsons and giving us such great feedback and suggestions - here's to a great summer of award winning day excursions!
