Summer Day Excursions Brochure Out Now!

Date Added 12/02/2018

We have launched our Summer 2018 Day Excursions brochure this week along with our Great Breaks and Express Excursions Brochure. In less than one week, we have already booked over 1,000 clients on to trips departing to historic houses, colourful gardens, days at the seaside, museums, steam railways and much more.

Julie Roberts, from our  Products Team, has spent the year analysing our customers' feedback, visiting new attractions and preparing our fantastic programme of excursions with something to suit everyone. Here are Julie’s thoughts on what to look out for in the new Summer 2018 Day Trip Brochure:

“In our ‘Memorable Occasions’ theme, we have some fantastic new and exciting trips including Cricket at the Kia Oval which presents the opportunity to have a guided tour at one of the worlds most Iconic sports grounds with a lovely afternoon tea included, while watching a  match. We also have the Emmerdale Studio Tour where this year there is the chance to hear about the production process, see the sets, props and costumes and learn secrets behind stunts and special effects which will be great fun! (Piture above is Emmerdale Studio Tour)

Back by popular demand is our ‘Close Up & Local’ theme which features 5 nearby destinations that are fabulous for group bookings such as  Baddesley Clinton and Packwood House. Set to be a great day out visiting two stunning National Trust properties in one day. Birmingham Museums -  on the doorstep but with so much included; guided tour at the Jewellery Quarter Museum, then a light lunch and a guided tour at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery followed by a delicious cream tea served in the Edwardian Tearooms. Exquisite! (Picture above is Baddesley Clinton)

We have 19 ‘Historic Houses & Castles’ to choose from this summer. Abbey-Cwm-Hir, always popular with our holiday programme, we are excited to include it in the Day Trip programme, and it includes a Scone & Drink as well! Bonus!  Arundel Castle, set in beautiful grounds and gardens, with 60'000 tulips blooming, this is going to be a magnificent sight, one not to be missed! We have a great choice of ‘Museums, Exhibitions & The Arts’ days out. IWM London and IWM Manchester - both museums are marking the end of the centenary of the First World War with special exhibitions of several thousand hand made poppies . Manchester will be presenting the ‘Wave’ and London the ‘Weeping Window’ - Both set to be really spectacular.

In our ‘Scenic Countryside Tour’ section we are very excited about The Archers Tour. This tour is loosely based on the ‘The Archers’, the world’s longest running radio soap opera where we’ll visit locations which inspired some of the “locations” for the programme.
The New Forest Tour, brought to life with a Blue Badge Guide on the coach, you’ll see some of the most varied woods, glades, heaths and moors with tiny villages snuggled in amongst them. Another added bonus to this trip is a 2 course lunch. Yummy!

Our River Weaver Steam Ship trip in June will be fantastic as we steam along on ‘The Daniel Adamson’, a newly refurbished and fully restored Steam Ship with it’s Art Deco interior. Steaming past some of Cheshire’s most stunning scenery, it’s great to be able to include this in our excursion programme.

For rail enthusiasts we have Steaming through the Cotswolds and Broadway. 2018 will mark the completion of the extended line to Broadway, retuning to this beautiful Cotswold village after 58 years. Very exciting indeed!

There are also 23 ‘Colourful Gardens & Flower Shows’ in the new programme including the RHS Harlow Carr and RHS Wisley - two great RHS venues both include a guided tour and a cream tea. It’s also worth mentioning that Harlow Carr has a Bettys Tea Room! (The photo above is RHS Harlow Carr, credit to Lee Beel)

And last but not least (and saving my best till last) we have Longleat Sky Safari in September, where the skies of Wiltshire will be filled with dozens of hot air balloons. Not only do we get to enjoy the hot air balloons launching but we also include entrance to the Longleat House and a tour of the Safari Park. Fantastic value for money!” (The photo above is Longleat Sky Safari)
