Changes to the Park and Ride
Date Added 06/05/2016
From Monday 6th June 2016 there will be changes made to the Stratford-upon-Avon Park and Ride bus services which transport passengers from the Bishopton car park to the town centre.
Established in 2004 and developed to its present site in 2009 the Stratford-upon-Avon Park & Ride service carries on average 25,000 passengers a month and offers a cost effective alternative to commuters, shoppers and tourists visiting the town centre.
For the customer, the 221 bus service which runs from the Park & Ride to the town centre then to Justins Avenue remains unchanged.
However, there will be a change to the 222 service which will operate between the Park & Ride car park and the town centre. Most buses will then continue as a service 21 -25 via Bridgetown and Trinity Mead to Waitrose, Lower Quinton and then to the Cotswolds.
This change will allow passengers from Trinity Mead and Bridgetown to travel directly to Morrisons and gives the opportunity for visitors to the Cotswolds to “Park & Ride”.
Services 221 and 222 will no longer pick up from the little used bus stop right outside Stratford Parkway Station and with the time saved this should help to improve reliability.
The 221 and 222 operates every 15 minutes throughout the day and there will be some later additional journeys from town with the last bus leaving at 20:45.
Peter Johnson, Operational Director of Johnsons Coach & Bus Travel stated: “By working in partnership with Warwickshire County Council we’ve come up with this package of measures which will have little impact to the Park & Ride bus routes, but will make the service operate more cost effectively”.
Andy Stokes of Warwickshire County Council stated: “The key message is that we are doing all we can to make the Park & Ride operate more efficiently and effectively which will help to sustain it in the future”.
