French Christmas Markets

4 Day Tour - Suggested Itinerary:

Day 1: Depart the UK. Travel to Dover for the ferry crossing to Calais. Drive south, towards your base in the heart of the Alsace region.

Day 2: Mulhouse Christmas Market. With its buzzing atmosphere, the Mulhouse Christmas Market has gained recognition for the special Christmas fabric it creates every year as a tribute to its industrial past.
Once finished, it is draped over the buildings as a decoration for the town. The food stalls are bursting with local cheeses, wine and gingerbread and don’t miss the bredele (small cakes).
The town is renowned for its excellent museums and if you can tear yourself away from the lights, sounds and smells of the markets, these are well worth a visit.

Day 3: Strasbourg Christmas Market. Nicknamed the ‘Capital of Christmas’, the Strasbourg Christmas Market is one of the most famous in Europe and with over 300 stalls has a seemingly endless spread over the entire city.
Place Kleber in the centre of town boasts a wonderful Christmas tree and there is usually an ice-rink by the towering Gothic cathedral. Don’t miss a visit to Petite France with its picturesque buildings along the Ill river and multitude of food shops including local gingerbread, choucroute and baeckeoffe stew.
The markets are a perfect place to pick up some traditional Christmas gifts and maybe a few souvenirs!

Day 4: Return to the UK. Travel to Calais for the return crossing over to Dover and journey home.
