Abingdon & The Country Cruise

The day begins and ends in beautiful Abingdon-on-Thames, where the medieval buildings drip down into the water. We meet our blue-badge guide who will be armed with a wealth of local stories, for a gentle walk through this historic town. We weave our way through the ghosts of the old Abbey and visit the little church and enjoy rare access to some of the mediaeval buildings by the river.

We will be stopping in Newbury for free time and lunch prior to meeting our boat in Hungerford for our 2 ½ cruise, pulled by heavy crossed-shire horses, to Kintbury.

Llangollen 'Thomas Telford' Canal Cruise

On arrival in Llangollen, there is time to explore and obtain lunch before a two hour cruise on the motorised narrow boat 'Thomas Telford'. Our cruise departs from Froncysyllte and travels over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct - romantically known as the 'Stream in the Sky' - The country's biggest navigable aqueduct towers 126ft above the River Dee and is supported by 18 stone piers.
