Our Culture
After more than 100 years working together as a family business, we haven't lost the family touch. All the way through the Johnsons team, you'll find passion, thoughtfulness and dedication.
Over the years we've built up an impressive fleet and a remarkable reputation, all without compromising on the friendly family atmosphere. We're big enough to offer job security, career progression and industry standard training, whilst still being small enough to keep that familiar and light-hearted feel.
"It's clear that the only way to guarantee a great customer experience is to make sure that the people who look after them are happy and fulfilled in their work."
Aspiring bus and coach drivers can work to achieve their PCV license at our driver training school, whilst also receiving tailored work-based training. New recruits are guided through the whole process, supported by a dedicated training team and experienced driver mentors.
Johnsons create and deliver CPC registered courses as part of our comprehensive training programme, which means that professional development and high quality training begins at induction and is continued throughout the duration of employment.
Quite simply, we're all about people
Johnsons have maintained a commitment to super low floor vehicles, which saw all but one of our fleet meeting this criteria in 2009. In recognition of our high standards for diversity and inclusion, the company has assisted the DfT in the production of a DVD about disabled passengers travelling on public transport. Our Training, Health & Safety Manager is also a delegate to the Go Skills sectors skills committee, Yorkshire and Humberside Diversity Solutions. This group meets twice a year to look at ways of engaging diverse groups into the work place; as a result we have helped to produce educational and recruitment DVDs for people to enter the industry. We are also a disability training supplier for Oxford County Council.
