5 NEW Scania Finesse Coaches Arrive

Date Added 10/04/2017

Johnsons Coach & Bus Travel welcomed five new coaches to their fleet this month as part of their fleet renewal programme, which will maximise their contribution to reduce the harmful emissions attributed to diesel engines.

The five new coaches joined two additional new 35 seat coaches that arrived in March, all of which are equipped with the latest ‘Euro 6’ engines. As the name suggests, Euro 6 is the latest round of regulation set by the European Commission governing the amount of harmful exhaust gases motor vehicles can emit.

Compared with the previous Euro 5 emissions standard, which focused largely on carbon dioxide emissions – Euro 6 is particularly targeting nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. But it will also reduce sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon, and diesel particulate matter emissions, as well as CO2.

NOx emissions have been scientifically linked to respiratory diseases and other health issues, and environmental damage including acid rain and the Euro 6 standard forces vehicle makers to reduce NOx by more than 55 percent.

Four of the new coaches are Scania 12m coaches; two are 49 seat Club Class coaches that will be used on Johnsons’ own range of holidays and day excursions; the other two coaches are 53 seaters with full wheelchair accessibility.

The other new arrival is another longer 14m 63 seat coach to join the 4 that have been bought in the last 3 years.  These highly popular coaches all have reclining half real leather executive seats, toilet, climate control, audio and visual equipment and USB charging points.

John Johnson, Commercial Director of Johnsons Coach Travel said: “We are investing heavily in vehicles with the latest state of the art engine technology.  We now have 18 Euro 6 coaches and buses and similar investment is already being planned for next year.  One of the reasons for this is because Air Quality legislation will increase in the future.  London already has its Low Emission Zone, (LEZ), and will soon move to implement its ‘Ultra’ LEZ too.  And other major cities, like Birmingham - right on our doorstep are moving to introduce Clean Air Zones (CAZ’s). We are well placed to meet the needs of our customers and these new regulations.”

These new vehicles are available to hire. To request a quote for your coach hire please call Jordan or Meena on 01564 797010 or email privatehire@johnsonscoaches.co.uk or click here.
