Ship Visit to Swan Hellenic's MV Minerva

Date Added 07/07/2015

Sailing on Swan Hellenic’s recently refurbished MV Minerva is more akin to sailing onboard a country house hotel! The spacious lounges, welcoming bars and well-appointed cabins offer a home from home and you will always receive a warm welcome and professional service from their friendly staff.

Johnsons Coach Travel work with a number of carefully selected cruise lines including Swan Hellenic to offer a range of door to door cruises throughout the year.

Swan Hellenic invited Johnsons staff to visit the MV Minerva for a ship visit on Tuesday 7th July 2015 to see the wonderful facilities onboard for themselves. Amy and Emma from our Reservations team were among the group and this is their report on what they thought:

“We started our visit at the docks of Portsmouth where after a well-organized and efficient check-in we boarded Minerva for our show around.

From the moment we arrived to board the ship, each member of the Minerva team we encountered were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We were guided to the bridge deck and into the Darwin Lounge passing a pianist, where we were presented with a tall glass of sparkling champagne or freshly squeezed orange juice whilst we enjoyed a greeting presentation from the Minerva’s General Manager, Jonathan Neal.

Once the presentation had finished we were shown around the ship - starting with viewing a collection of the cabins that are available – all of which are spacious and of the highest quality, providing a relaxing zone and a perfect night sleep.

We then viewed the lounge areas including the Library where you can relax and read one of 5,000 books stocked onboard; discover the selection of puzzles; or enjoy a game of bridge or chess in this relaxing and quiet environment. All of the lounge and bar areas compliment the style of the Minerva from well-polished wood to fine fabric and furniture and it was great to see how well the team maintain the quality of the ship from cruise to cruise.

The high quality of the public areas continues outside onto the decking areas where you can enjoy relaxing in the sun; swimming in the pool or indulge in alfresco dining.

After touring the facilities we sat down to enjoy a fabulous lunch. There are two restaurants onboard – one is an informal buffet restaurant and the other a formal a la carte. Our lunch was served in the a la carte restaurant where the Minerva’s highly skilled chef served an imaginative four course lunch. In the evenings, open dining allows you to dine at the table of your choice and in the company of your friends at a convenient time for you.

After lunch it was time to leave and we had our team photo to remember our fabulous day exploring the splendid MV Minerva.”
