Changes to Stratford to Cotswolds Bus Service

Date Added 04/05/2016

From Monday 6th June 2016 there will be amendments made to the 21,22,23,24 and 25 bus services operated by Johnsons Excelbus from Stratford-upon-Avon to the Cotswolds to incorporate Bridgetown and Trinity Mead in Stratford-upon-Avon on their routes.

Johnsons Excelbuses 21 to 25 services operate Monday to Saturday from Stratford-upon-Avon to serve the towns and villages in the Cotswolds, including Chipping Campden, Broadway and Moreton in Marsh.

From Monday 6th June, these services will replace the section of service 222 between Stratford town centre, Bridgetown and Trinity Mead. There will be a standard route in both directions from Wood Street via Bridge Street, Bridgefoot, Banbury Road, Bridgetown Road, Shelley Road, Hunts Road, Rushbrook Road, Wordsworth Avenue, Seven Meadows Road, A3400 Waitrose, then as the current routes to the Cotswolds.

Services 21 to 25 will no longer serve Shipston Road. Additional 269/270 services will serve Banbury Road. Most journeys arriving in Stratford will operate through as a service 222 to Morrisons and the Park & Ride and vice versa. These combined services will benefit residents living in Trinity Mead and will hopefully appeal to visitors and tourists who can park for the day at the Park & Ride and visit the Cotswolds.

These amendments mean that the 21 to 25 bus services will operate on the opposite side of the road in Stratford. Passengers wanting to catch the bus services to the Cotswolds from Stratford Wood Street will now need to wait at the bus stop outside Bella Italia and from Bridge Street outside British Home Stores.

Peter Johnson, Operational Director at Johnsons Excelbus stated: “By working in partnership with Warwickshire County Council and amalgamating these services, we have been able to maintain a frequent high quality bus service to all areas in difficult financial times.
