Henley-in-Arden coach operator Johnsons, saw eighteen months of meticulous planning come to fruition recently with their involvement with the International Rotary Convention held this year at the NEC, Birmingham.
Rotary International selected Birmingham to host their 100th Anniversary Convention and the event also coincides with Johnsons own hundredth anniversary celebrations this year.
Johnsons were chosen to organise and deliver all the pre and post convention tours and excursions for Rotarians, in order that they could make the best of their time in the UK.
In addition, the company was also hired in by Flights Coaches and was heavily involved with the transportation of delegates with regular hotel transfers, and for numerous off-site events in the evening, a complex operation involving over 50% of the Johnsons fleet, and over 100 coaches overall.
Peter Johnson, Operations Director Johnsons Coach & Bus said “it was a tremendous honour to be appointed. Our pre and post holiday programme included holidays in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe, plus day and half day tours covering some of the world renowned attractions that the Midlands has to offer, including Blenheim, Chatsworth, The Cotswolds and Stratford-upon-Avon.This was a truly international event with over 15,000 visitors attending, many from America, China, Japan, Korea, Australia and of course continental Europe.
To cope with demand we set up dedicated operational, traffic and sales teams, and were available 24 hours a day during the period of the convention. It was an incredible experience and a privilege to be involved on something that is truly international from start to finish”.
