Joan, John and Pete Johnson
Almost 400 guests attended a special charity dinner hosted by Henley in Arden based Johnson’s coach & bus, at the Holiday Inn in Stratford, in celebration of the companies 100th anniversary.
The dinner which was huge success raised over £4000 for the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire air ambulance service, Johnson’s chosen charity for their special year.
Guests listened to an amusing speech by Pete & John Johnson, with family anecdotes, going back 100 years. This was followed by special guest comedian Don MacLean, who kept guests highly entertained with his non stop repertoire.
John Johnson, Director Johnson Coach & Bus said “ everyone enjoyed themselves, it was good to celebrate our 100 years as a family business and at the same time raise funds for such a worthwhile cause. Our target for the year is £10,000 and when you add the nights proceeds to our running total it means we are half way there and there are still two major events to go, a family fun day on 20th September and a firework Finale on 19th December, both events are being held at the companies headquarters on Liveridge Hill. Staff are also organising other events which will help to swell fund raising considerably”
The company started out in 1909 operating horse drawn transport along the A34 between Birmingham and Stratford upon Avon and by coincidence have in their centenary year recently taken over the operation of the X20 bus service along the same route |
